Visiting Dartmoor for many years, I have felt a powerful, spiritual, and ancient presence within the landscape, and these visits have stirred deep feelings within. This became the inspiration for the painting. The objective was to achieve high realism, which can be a time consuming process,The stones in particular were very challenging, pushing observational and oil painting skills to their limits.Taking 18 months to complete, this has been a deeply powerful project, slowly building the layers, and you can see this process in the “work in progress” section.
I would like to thank Anna Curnow (ASC photography) for allowing me to use her sunset photo of Great Staple Tor.I also visited the Tor in person last summer to get a deeper feel of the location.

The Yin & Yang symbolizes the balance of male & female forces in the cosmic order. The Mandala is a spiritual painting that has the potential to awaken the higher mental & spiritual aspect within us. From an Artist perspective I had the challenge of creating a delicate balance of colour Harmony which was Key to elevating the painting . The painting took 6 months to complete from start to finish.
